FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Cloud Server?
A cloud server is a virtual server running Linux, Windows, or FreeBSD and is extremely flexible and reliable. The server can be accessed and managed over the internet.
Using KVM virtualization technology, you can divide the resources of a powerful physical server into multiple independently operating virtual servers. The data is stored on a redundant SAN storage system, ensuring high security and enabling real-time migration from cloud servers with minimal downtime.
Physical servers are continuously monitored, and if one fails, the cloud server running on that server is immediately transferred to another. At any time, the resources of a cloud server can be dynamically altered.
How are Cloud Servers different from Dedicated Servers?
From the consumer’s point of view, you can install and configure any type of software on both cloud and physical servers without any restrictions.
Setting up a dedicated server can take days, but the cloud server runs in minutes and can be configured over the web.
The main task is automated and can be completed with a few mouse clicks through the web-based control panel. The main advantage is that you can customize the properties of your cloud server at any time. This allows you to add or remove resources based on your current needs.
From a reliability standpoint, dedicated servers have a single point of failure (SPOF). This means that if one of the components fails, the server will stop functioning until the component is replaced.
How are Cloud Servers different from VPS (Virtual private servers)?
Virtualization is frequently confused with cloud computing. Unfortunately, some businesses advertise their services as cloud and deceive customers by just providing virtualization and software management tools.
Virtualization, or the division of a physical server into several logical servers, is only one technique and a minor element of constructing a true cloud environment. To offer the performance of the complete system as a living organism in which different components interact, dozens of technologies are applied. Control servers administer and monitor the whole cloud system, taking automatic actions when particular events occur.
The cloud server is secure, very stable, and has a high level of performance. There is no SPOF (single point of failure) in the system.
Can I change cloud server parameters?
Yes, you have full control over all cloud server parameters. You can add and remove resources according to your specific needs. All settings are quick and easy via the user-friendly web-based control panel.
Do the Cloud servers have a backup?
EngiStation Cloud only provides backup of the infrastructure that supports regular cloud servers. You can make a backup copy of all your data using the Backup Space, which is a separate feature.
This option allows you to set up your own automatic backup. Snapshots of the entire cloud server are created at specified time intervals. You can always use such snapshots to restore your cloud server. You can also create templates and use them to set up additional cloud servers.
How and how often are backups conducted if I have paid for the Backup Space option?
This depends on your current needs. You can select the backup frequency through the web-based control interface of the service management tool. If you need help, please contact us. We will support you.
Can I reinstall the cloud servers and how?
Yes. This can be done quickly and easily using the Reinstall option in the Cloud Server Maintenance section of the web-based control panel.
Note that a fresh installation of the operating system will delete all data on the server.
Am I charged for the network traffic of the Cloud servers?
Unlike most other providers, we provide unlimited network traffic.
What virtualization software is used by EngiStation Cloud?
The hypervisor is virtualized via KVM. You can now run multiple operating systems, such as Linux, Windows, and FreeBSD, on completely separate cloud servers at the same time.
KVM is an open-source virtualization software project that has been in development for over a decade and is now used on the world’s leading cloud platforms.
What does it mean to have a virtual central processing unit (vCPU)?
The logical processor used by the cloud server is called the virtual central processing unit (vCPU). To ensure optimal productivity, Neterra.Cloud uses a powerful Intel Xeon E5 server CPU.
Unlike other Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud service providers, we do not resell capacity and your resources are fully guaranteed. The productivity of each vCPU is 0.6GHz. With full capacity, you can increase your productivity up to 4x your initial purchase, or up to 2.4GHz per CPU core.
What is the best Cloud Server for web, mail, and file servers?
The suitable specifications for any cloud server may be determined by a variety of criteria, including the software requirements, the quantity of data that will be stored on the server, and the number of users that will access and utilize the server`s services.
For a free consultation on which option is ideal for your needs and project requirements, contact us.
Where are the cloud servers located?
EngiStation Cloud is colocated at a safe and secure DC – the independent, carrier-neutral Sofia Data Center (SDC).
Upon request, a cloud infrastructure can be provided in Frankfurt and London.
